Super Bowl-winning NFL coach Mike Ditka was hospitalized Wednesday after suffering a heart attack in Naples, Fla.

“Coach Ditka had a mild heart attack earlier this week. Doctors inserted a pacemaker, and he is doing much better,” Ditka's longtime agent, Steve Mandell, told ESPN on Saturday. “He appreciates the outpouring of support and expects to be home soon.”

Ditka, now 79, also had a heart attack in 1988.

He won Super Bowls both as a player and a coach, but is best known for coaching the Chicago Bears for 11 seasons. He played for the Bears, the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.

Ditka made headlines in 2016 when he endorsed Donald Trump for president, saying former President Obama was “not a leader.”
