Kevin Spacey to be arraigned on charge of sexual assault

Actor Kevin Spacey will be arraigned next month in a Massachusetts court in connection to an allegation that he sexually assaulted a teenager.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe told The Boston Globe that Spacey will be arraigned at Nantucket District Court on Jan. 7 on a charge of indecent assault and battery. He is accused of sexually assaulting the son of a former local television news anchor in Boston, according to the Globe.

{mosads}The anchor, Heather Unruh, told the Globe that she is “pleased that the case is moving forward in the judicial system.”

Unruh last year accused Spacey of purchasing alcohol for her son at a bar in 2016 until he was drunk, and then sticking his hand in her son’s pants and grabbing his genitals, according to the Globe.

“The victim, my son, was a star-struck, straight, 18-year-old young man who had no idea that the famous actor was an alleged sexual predator or that he was about to become his next victim,” Unruh said at a news conference last year.

Spacey, the former star of Netflix’s “House of Cards,” has faced several accusations of sexual assault that emerged last year. The accusations led to Netflix cutting ties with Spacey, and “House of Cards” filmed its final season without him.

As news of the scheduled arraignment broke Monday, Spacey tweeted a video titled “Let Me Be Frank” that shows him speaking in character, seemingly as Frank Underwood from “House of Cards.”

In the video, Spacey declares that some people “believed everything and have just been waiting with bated breath to hear me confess it all,” though it’s unclear what specifically he is addressing.

“They’re just dying to have me declare that everything said is true and that I got what I deserved. Wouldn’t that be easy, if it was all so simple? Only, you and I both know it’s never that simple — not in politics and not in life,” he adds in the video.

“But you wouldn’t believe the worst without evidence, would you?” he continues. “You wouldn’t rush to judgments without facts, would you? Did you?”
