Actress and comedian Jane Curtin said Monday that her New Year's resolution is to “make sure the Republican Party dies.”

“My New Year’s resolution is to make sure that that the Republican party dies,” Curtin said during a New Year's Eve broadcast on CNN.

A clip of her appearance quickly went viral on social media, drawing praise and criticism from Twitter users.

The “Saturday Night Live” alumna was one of several celebrities who recorded her resolutions for the network’s telecast.

HBO star Lena Dunham also recorded her resolution for the network, in which she vowed to "kiss more gay men on the lips consensually," and actress Patricia Arquette also resolved "to stop caring about New Year's resolutions."
