The streaming service released a trailer for the show, titled "Space Force," that describes the new military branch's purpose as defending satellites from attack and performing "other space-related tasks. Or something."

Carrell, who played Michael Scott in "The Office," co-created the upcoming series with Greg Daniels, who developed "The Office" for American television.

It's unclear when "Space Force" will land on Netflix, as the series is listed as "coming soon."

Trump officially directed the Pentagon last June to “immediately begin the process necessary to establish a Space Force as the sixth branch of the armed forces." The Department of Defense weeks later released a report detailing how it will establish a Space Force.

In the wake of the announcement, Trump's campaign urged supporters to select a logo for the military branch, and chants of "space force" regularly broke out at the president's campaign rallies.

Trump late last year directed the Pentagon to create a Space Command, a unified combatant command meant to lay the groundwork for his proposal to create a dedicated Space Force.
