Cardi B asks fans if she should speak at a Dem event in Iowa

Cardi B on Thursday asked her fans on Twitter if she should agree to address a group of Iowa Democrats while visiting the state in May.

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper was invited to host a “reception of her choice” for the Polk County Democrats when she is in the state’s capitol of Des Moines for a concert.

The group said in social media that it has hosted “many powerful women leaders” including Speaker Nancy PelosiNancy PelosiWhy President Trump needs to speak out on Hong Kong Anti-Trump vets join Steyer group in pressing Democrats to impeach Trump Pelosi warns Mnuchin to stop 'illegal' .3B cut to foreign aid MORE (D-Calif.) and former Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards.

Sean Bagniewski, the Polk County Democrats chairman, told the Des Moines Register that the group was “definitely serious” about its extended invitation to Cardi B. 

"She speaks to the new activism in the Democratic Party," he said. "It's a long shot, but a little bit of her presence would go a long way."

The entertainer, born Belcalis Almánzar, has made headlines in recent weeks for her political commentary.

She also verbally sparred with conservative commentator Tomi Lahren, who mockingly referred to Cardi B as a “political genius.”

“Leave me alone I will dog walk you,” the 26-year-old rapper replied on Twitter.
