Queen Latifah says she’s standing by “Empire” star Jussie Smollett until she sees “definitive proof” that he faked his alleged assault in Chicago.

“Until somebody can show me some proof otherwise, I’m going with him,” the actress and rapper said on Yahoo News’s “Through Her Eyes” on Tuesday.

Smollett was charged last month in Chicago with felony disorderly conduct. Police say the actor and musician falsely claimed to have been the victim of a racist and homophobic attack by two men who shouted pro-Trump language. Smollett paid the men $3,500 to stage an altercation with him as a publicity-seeking move, according to authorities. The performer — who was cut from the final episodes of this season of “Empire” following his arrest — has maintained his innocence.

“The guy I’ve seen has always been someone who cares about people, who cares about others and who’s very kind and who’s always been cool and sweet, and that’s just the guy I know,” Queen Latifah said when asked about Smollett.

Few Hollywood entertainers have publicly defended Smollett since his arrest. “Until I can see some definitive proof — which I haven’t seen yet — then, you know, I got to go with him until I see otherwise,” the “Chicago” star told Yahoo’s Zainab Salbi.

“I hope everything works out in the end and basically everybody comes out unscathed," she added.
