GOP lawmaker shows Chris Evans his ‘Captain America’ glass eye

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), a Navy veteran who lost an eye in Afghanistan, showed his glass eye to Chris Evans, the actor who plays Captain America in Marvel’s “Avengers” series.
“When Captain America sees your Captain America glass eye. #merica,” Crenshaw tweeted Friday.

Evans was on Capitol Hill this week to meet with lawmakers on an array of topics, including the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), education, bipartisanship and criminal justice reform. A spokesperson for Evans said he’s “working on a civics engagement project” but did not provide further details.
{mosads}Evans first visited the Capitol in February to meet with Democratic senators before President Trump’s State of the Union address.
Crenshaw burst onto the entertainment scene shortly after his election after Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson made fun of his eyepatch. The Texas Republican went on the show the next weekend to make amends with the comedian in a segment that drew bipartisan applause for emulating respectful political dialogue.
