'RBG' gets four MTV Movie & TV Awards nominations

"RBG," the 2018 documentary about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader GinsburgRuth Bader GinsburgSupreme Court sharply divided over state aid for religious schools Equal Rights Amendment will replace equality with enforced sameness SCOTUS 'TRAP law' case and the erosion of abortion rights MORE, has been nominated for four MTV Movie & TV Awards including in the "best fight" category as "Ruth Bader Ginsburg vs. Inequality."

The film is also up in the "Best Documentary," "Most Meme-able Moment" and "Best Real-Life Hero" categories, with Ginsburg herself being nominated as the real-life hero and "The Notorious RBG" as the most meme-able moment, according to the nominations announced Tuesday.


The "Meme-able Moment" and "Real-Life Hero" categories are new this year. Ginsburg faces tennis star Serena Williams, who is featured in the documentary series "Being Serena," in the real life hero category, among others. 

"RBG" is tied for the most award nominations with the film "Avengers: Endgame" and the HBO hit series "Game of Thrones."

The award ceremony will air on June 17.
