Jon Voight declares Trump 'the greatest president' since Lincoln
Actor Jon Voight praised President Trump in a pair of videos on Friday, urging Republicans to support the president amid calls for impeachment from House Democrats while declaring Trump "the greatest president" since Abraham Lincoln.
The Oscar-winning actor, who has long voiced support for Trump, said in two videos posted to Twitter that Trump has his and other Republicans' "utmost respect and our love."
"This job is not easy, for he's battling the left and their absurd words of destruction," Voight, 80, said. "Our nation has been built on the solid ground from our forefathers, and there is a moral code of duty that has been passed on from President Lincoln."
"Our country is stronger, safer and with more jobs because our president has made his every move correct," Voight continued. "Don't be fooled by the political left because we are the people of this nation that is witnessing triumph."
"Let us stand up for this truth: that President Trump is the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln."
Voight is a longtime Republican who supported Trump during his 2016 White House bid, eventually going on to make an appearance at a concert in Washington, D.C., to celebrate Trump's inauguration the following year.
"And President Lincoln, who sits here with us ... I'm sure is smiling knowing America will be saved by an honest and good man who will work for all the people, no matter their creed or color," Voight said during the event on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
The actor was appointed by Trump in March alongside former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) to the board of trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
