Fox News host Greg Gutfeld recently joined forces with country singer John Rich to write a song called "Shut Up About Politics" — and it made the charts.

The song, which features Gutfeld’s fellow co-hosts on Fox News’s “The Five,” stands at No. 17 on the Hot country song chart this week and ranks No. 1 on the country digital song sales chart, according to The Associated Press

The tune, which touches on everything from the Green New Deal to Rich's whiskey, also ranks 91st on the all-genre Hot 100 chart.

Rich said last month that the collaboration came into being after the musician talked with "The Five" hosts about potentially creating a song when they came to Nashville.

"We had the chat about it would be fun to come up with a song when you guys came to Nashville and [Gutfeld] said, 'I'll send you some ideas' ... and you had some really good lines and 'shut up about politics' was in there and so I pulled that one out and built the song" Rich said, according to Fox News.

Rich said earlier this week that he thought the popularity of the song stemmed from the current moment, in which politics play a part in virtually every setting.

"You and I were able to put into a little song how people feel about not being able to watch an award show or a game or a movie... without there constantly being some kind of political angle to it," Rich said in an appearance "The One with Greg Gutfeld" podcast. "You feel like screaming at them, 'please shut up about politics.' "

All proceeds from the song will go to Folds of Honor, a group that gives scholarships to children and spouses of deceased and disabled service members.
