Ex-Maine Gov. Paul LePage plans to spend his summer bartending
Former Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) is going from serving the people to serving thirsty bargoers.
The two-term ex-gov will reportedly work as a bartender this summer in his home state. LePage will serve up drinks at McSeagulls Restaurant in Boothbay Harbor, according to local affiliate WGME-TV.
"He was looking for something to do this summer, and it just seemed like a natural thing to do," McSeagulls owner Jeff Stoddard told the station this week.
The bartending gig seems to be a family affair, too: LePage's wife, Ann, is also poised to be behind the bar during the summer season alongside her husband. In years past, Ann LePage and the couple's daughter have worked as servers at the eatery, WGME reports.
LePage, who termed out of office earlier this year, was seen in a photo with his wife posted by McSeagulls on Facebook sporting the restaurant's "Crew" shirts.
When the restaurant's owner was asked if the most recent hire was just an attempt at grabbing headlines, Stoddard replied, "You have any idea how hard it is to find workers?"
"I will take good honest reliable help any day," he said.
