The Independence Day gathering is poised to include a “phenomenal fireworks display,” according to the Interior Department, as well as remarks by Trump from the Lincoln Memorial. News reports Tuesday also said at least two tanks had arrived in the nation’s capital after Trump had called for a July 4 event that included military hardware.

Midler, a longtime environmental activist, tweeted to her more than 1.6 million followers:

France recorded its highest-ever temperature last week, reaching nearly 115 degrees in the town of Gallargues-le-Montueux.

Critics of the Fourth of July event have argued that Trump is politicizing the annual fireworks display and driving up the cost of the celebration.

Midler is an outspoken critic of the commander in chief, and has tangled with him on social media before.

Last month, Trump ripped Midler on Twitter, calling the "First Wives Club" star a "washed-up psycho" after she shared a fake quote about him online. Midler has repeatedly blasted Trump, saying he generates "so many lies."
