White House seeks volunteers, musicians for Christmas celebrations

It's only August, but they need a little Christmas at the White House, with a call Monday for some seasonal help.

The White House is seeking volunteers to lend a hand in decorating 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. for the holidays, and to serve as greeters for annual open houses. A news release asks for potential volunteers to apply by Aug. 27.

Musicians "including high school bands, choirs, and Christmas-themed entertainers" who want to perform during the holiday open houses in December can apply through Sept. 10.

The White House issued a similar casting call last year.

In 2018, the White House hosted more than 100 open houses and welcomed in excess of 30,000 visitors throughout December.
