Kasie Hunt is over the moon about the birth of Mars, her son.

The MSNBC "Kasie D.C." host and her husband, "Meet the Press" senior digital producer Matt Rivera, welcomed Mars Hunt Rivera on Wednesday.

Baby Mars already knows how to make a a grand entrance — he weighed in at 9 lbs, 8 ounces. Hunt, NBC News’s Capitol Hill correspondent and a first-time mom, said she and her hubby were in the dark about whether their bundle of joy was a boy or girl.

"Gender was a surprise! We got to actually say, 'It's a boy!' " Hunt, 34, said in a statement to ITK.

"Mars must already have big things planned since he started life at nine and a half pounds," said Hunt and Rivera, who tied the knot in 2017.

"We love him so much and can’t wait to see what joy he brings to our family of three.”

In March, following the announcement of her pregnancy, ITK asked Hunt if she had timed her due date to coincide with Congress's August recess.

"A lucky coincidence, I suppose! Everyone tells me this is just the first step in realizing you have no control over anything once you have kids," she said.
