Football player Antonio Brown reportedly will be eligible to play for the New England Patriots this Sunday despite being accused of sexual assault.

The NFL decided not to place Brown on the commissioner's exempt list because he is not facing criminal charges, a person with knowledge told USA Today

The league was reportedly considering suspending Brown and putting him on paid leave after he was accused of rape and sexual assault in a civil lawsuit filed Tuesday. He has denied the allegations in the lawsuit.

Players on the exempt list cannot play or take part in practices but are still paid, according to USA Today.

Brown was released from the Oakland Raiders last week but later signed with the Patriots.

The Patriots are set to play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
