Queen Elizabeth II released a statement on Saturday extending "thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to all those who have lost loved ones" in a stabbing attack in London on Friday

"Prince Philip and I have been saddened to hear of the terror attacks at London Bridge. We send our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to all those who have lost loved ones and who have been affected by yesterday’s terrible violence," the queen said in a statement on Twitter on Saturday.

"I express my enduring thanks to the police and emergency services, as well as the brave individuals who put their own lives at risk to selflessly help and protect others," she added.

Police said that two people were killed and three were injured and remain in the hospital following the attack.

The main suspect, Usman Khan, was killed by police at the scene after reportedly being subdued by bystanders using a narwhal tusk and fire extinguisher
