Oprah to produce documentary focused on sexual assault: report

The OWN creator and former talk show host is one of the executive producers on a documentary premiering next year about a music executive who debates whether to come forward with her sexual misconduct allegations against another high-profile figure, Variety reported Tuesday.


The doc is slated to air on Apple TV Plus. Representatives for the subscription video service didn't immediately respond to ITK's request for comment about the project.

Winfrey, 65, made headlines last year with an impassioned speech about sexual harassment at the Golden Globes.

ā€œIā€™m especially proud and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories,ā€ Winfrey said during a speech while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the January ceremony.

Winfrey's remarks came amid a flurry of accusations from women against prominent Hollywood figures following a 2017 New York Times report about film producer Harvey Weinstein.

"For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men," Winfrey told the audience. "But their time is up. Their time is up!ā€
