Obama unveils favorite books, shows of 2019
Former president Barack Obama on Sunday revealed his favorite movies and television of 2019 a day after tweeting his top books of the year.
Movies listed among Obama’s favorites included Martin Scorsese’s gangster epic “The Irishman,” Bong Joon-Ho’s social-class-themed dark comedy “Parasite,” Jia Zhnagke’s Chinese crime drama “Ash is Purest White” and Greta Gerwig’s acclaimed adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women.”
Obama also listed the documentary “American Factory,” which was produced by his and Michelle Obama’s production company “Higher Ground.”
The former president also included a list of “TV shows that I considered powerful as movies” in 2019, including the second season of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s comedy-drama “Fleabag,” HBO’s superhero series “Watchmen,” and Netflix’s “Unbelievable,” a dramatization of the true story of a woman wrongly charged with fabricating her own rape.
Next up are my favorite movies and TV shows of 2019. Of course, there’s also American Factory, a film from our own production company, Higher Ground, that was recently shortlisted for an Oscar. Here’s the full list: pic.twitter.com/PEcgwotcxm
