Billy Eichner to play Matt Drudge in Clinton-focused 'American Crime Story'

The former “Difficult People” star will take on the role of the conservative founder of The Drudge Report, who was first to break the news in 1998 of the then-commander in chief's relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. 

An FX spokesman confirmed the casting news, first reported by Deadline, to ITK.


Eichner joins a cast that includes Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, Beanie Feldstein as Lewinsky and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones.

Lewinsky was announced as a producer on the third season of the FX series in August.

It's not the first time that 41-year-old Eichner has gotten close to real-life political figures. Earlier this month, FX said it is delaying the premiere of "American Crime Story" until after the presidential election. The season was originally poised to debut in September, but was pushed back because of creator Ryan Murphy's work schedule, according to the network.
