Neutral Milk Hotel frontman endorses Bernie Sanders

The frontman of the indie rock band Neutral Milk Hotel endorsed Sen. Bernie SandersBernie SandersBiden wins Connecticut in final presidential primary of year Vermont Rep. Peter Welch easily wins primary Three pros and three cons to Biden picking Harris MORE (I-Vt.) for president ahead of Super Tuesday.

Jeff Mangum, who formed the group in the late 80s, released a statement Monday in support of the Vermont progressive, which was shared by his wife, Astra Taylor, on Twitter.

Mangum’s statement read, “hello my friends! just writing to ask you to please vote for bernie.”


Mangum last performed with the band in a 2015 tour, according to music magazine Pitchfork. But he has since been seen participating in political rallies, including a climate strike in New York last year. 

Sanders has started the primary season strong, with wins in New Hampshire and Nevada and a popular vote victory in Iowa. The candidate leads the Democratic field with 60 delegates.

The two candidates are neck and neck for the lead ahead of Super Tuesday, when more than a third of the delegates are up for grabs.
