Sunday’s St. Louis Blues vs. Chicago Blackhawks game will be the first professional hockey telecast led by an all-woman crew.
“There is significance and history to it. Everyone is awesome at their jobs and it was not a stretch to find women who could do the roles on the broadcast,” AJ Mleczko, who will be the analyst for the game, told NBC-5 Chicago.
Mleczko and her fellow Olympic gold medalist Kendall Coyne-Schofield will provide analysis with Kate Scott taking care of play-by-play. Both Coyne-Scholfield and Mleczko have previously been part of NHL games’ analyst rotation.
Meanwhile, Rene Hatlelid and Lisa Seltzer will produce while Kathryn Tappen and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Jen Botterill will anchor in-studio.
“These are professionals who are some of the best at what they do and do these jobs on a regular basis," producer Kaitlin Urka said. "International Women’s Day just gives us a unique platform to celebrate their great work.”
