Amid "these stressful times," celebrity chef Ina Garten on Wednesday offered followers who may be stuck at home a recipe for a massive cocktail.

"It’s always cocktail hour in a crisis!" the "Barefoot Contessa" host wrote on Instagram in a morning post as Americans grapple with the coronavirus pandemic. More than 600,000 people have since viewed the video, many commenting on the early hour.

"I like to make a lot of cosmos. You never know who's going to stop by," Garten says in the video, then jokes: "Wait a minute. Nobody's stopping by."

Garten then demonstrates a recipe to make a giant pitcher of cosmopolitans, beginning with 2 cups of "good vodka," before adding 1 cup each of orange liqueur and cranberry juice cocktail and half a cup of freshly squeezed lime juice.

She stresses that using the right glassware for cocktail hour is key.

"A good martini glass. I would say, in these times, this is really important," she says, before pulling out a glass large enough for the entire pitcher.

"Stay safe, have a very good time, and don't forget the cocktails," Garten concludes after taking a sip.

Garten has been offering a number of recipes geared for followers who are stuck at home under new social distancing guidelines for the coronavirus, ranging from ramen chicken noodle soup to overnight Belgian waffle with peanut butter and jelly. She frequently uses the hashtags #staysafe and #havefun with her recipes and tips.
“I started this thinking it would be interesting to do,” she told The Atlantic of her Instagram. “I had no idea the affection that would come back from it. It’s really quite overwhelming, and that just encourages me to do it more.”

Garten has amassed quite a few new fans due to her content, with many commenting that she's a good distraction from the coronavirus isolation and others questioning whether she represents a "coronavirus tailspin."
