Popular actor and "Ghostbusters" star Rick Moranis was the victim of an unprovoked attack by a stranger in New York City Thursday.

The incident was caught on tape near the Upper West Side, local CBS affiliate WLNY reported.

Footage shows the suspect walk up and punch 67-year-old Moranis in the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

Police have launched a search for the suspect, who was seen in footage walking away after the attack.

Authorities said Moranis went to the hospital with pain in his head and back hip. Later, he walked to the police precinct to report the crime.

His management team told WLNY that Moranis is "fine, but grateful for everyone's thoughts and well wishes."

The actor who is also known for his role in "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" has been away from movie production for years to focus on his children after his wife's passing.

Moranis recently appeared in a Mint Mobile commercial with Ryan Reynolds.
