Jon Stewart is poised to return to TV, signing a deal that will have him at the helm of a newsy series.

Apple TV+ announced Tuesday that the former "Daily Show" host will lead a "multiple season, one-hour, single-issue series" the service says will "explore topics that are currently part of the national conversation and his advocacy work." Each of the series' seasons will be accompanied by a podcast to "continue the discussion," the subscription streaming service said.

Since leaving Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" in 2015, Stewart has been a frequent visitor to Capitol Hill, lobbying Congress on behalf of 9/11 first responders and for veterans whose health was harmed by exposure to burn pits.

In addition to the current affairs show, Apple TV+ said it is partnering with Stewart and the 57-year-old comedian's production company on a first-look deal to produce and develop TV projects.
