‘Leslie Knope’ trends as fans remember Biden’s appearances on ‘Parks and Rec’

"Parks and Recreation" on NBC

As President Biden was sworn into office on Wednesday, social media users resurfaced clips from one of his former gigs — sitcom star on “Parks and Recreation.”

Fans began sharing moments from Biden’s two appearances as himself on the NBC series, including so many references to Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope that the name began trending on Twitter.

The then-vice president played himself in 2012 during a meeting with Knope, who was a massive fan with a bit of a crush. He made a second cameo with now-first lady Jill Biden in the series finale in 2015.

Several cast members also joined in on the celebrations.

Adam Scott, who played former mayor and Indiana Rep. Ben Wyatt, shared a clip of him shaking Biden’s hand on the show the day before the inauguration.

After the swearing-in, he shared a GIF of Knope dancing with the phrase “IT’S OVER.”

Retta, who played Donna Meagle, responded with “Yasssssss. Leggo Joe!”

Multiple cast members from the comedy have thrown their support behind the Democrat before.

In September, Scott and Retta joined fellow costars Aubrey Plaza, Poehler, Nick Offerman, Jim O’Heir and Michael Schur for an event to raise money for the Wisconsin Democratic Party ahead of the November election.
