It has been a long week of debate for the senators as both sides present their case as to why or why not the president should be convicted for his words and actions leading up to the Capitol riot on Jan. 6.

It is not clear when the impeachment trial will end; although it was expected that the senators would give their verdict on Saturday, they instead voted to allow for witnesses, a stunning development that could extend the proceeding for weeks.
