Abigail Breslin took to social media Friday night to celebrate the life of her father Michael Breslin, 78, after he passed away from COVID-19.

The young actress shared a series of images and words memorializing her late father, who was on a ventilator for the past few weeks.

"At 6:32 PM EST, my sweet, perfect, amazing, heroic, wonderful dada passed away after my family and I said goodbye," she wrote, adding that she was shocked and devastated.

She added, "It was COVID-19 that cut my sweet daddy’s life too short."

Breslin, 24, shared the news of her father's diagnosis on Instagram on Feb. 10, asking fans for prayers as her father was placed on a ventilator.
Two days later, the "Little Miss Sunshine" star shared a plea with her Instagram followers, urging them to wear a mask.
"A mask is FAR LESS uncomfortable than a ventilator," she wrote. "Wear your damn mask. Please. No one should go thru this."
The news from Breslin comes as several public figures including lawmakers have lost loved ones to the disease that has killed over half a million people in the United States.
“Mercia was loved immensely and will be missed greatly, as she joins the legion of angels who have gone home too soon due to the pandemic,” Bowser said in a Wednesday statement shared with The Hill.
