Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is penning her first children’s book, which she says is inspired by the bond between Prince Harry and the royal couple’s son Archie.

“The Bench,” to be released on June 8, began as a poem the 39-year-old former “Suits” actress born Meghan Markle wrote for her husband on Father’s Day, weeks after Archie was born in 2019.

“That poem became this story,” Meghan said Tuesday in a statement announcing the book’s release.

Meghan said the book’s “beautiful and ethereal watercolor illustrations” from Christian Robinson help capture the “warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life.”

“This representation,” she said, “was particularly important to me, and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens.”

“My hope is that ‘The Bench’ resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine,” said Meghan, whose mother is Black and father is white.

Random House Children’s Books, her publisher, said the first book Meghan has authored “captures the evolving and expanding relationship between fathers and sons and reminds us of the many ways that love can take shape and be expressed in a modern family.”

The release of the children’s book comes after Meghan and Harry, the sixth in line to the British throne, made headlines in March in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. In the sit-down, the pair, who married in 2018, alleged that racism played a role in their decision to move to California and step away from their duties as full-time working members of the royal family.

Meghan, who revealed in March that she’s pregnant with the couple’s second child after suffering a miscarriage last year, is due in the summer.

In addition to her writing efforts, Meghan and Harry also run a charitable organization, the Archewell Foundation, and a production company. The two inked a deal with Netflix last year to develop films, documentaries, scripted shows and children’s programming.
