Italy wins Euro 2020, beating England 3-2 in penalty shootout
Italy has been crowned the champions of Europe after defeating England 3-2 in a penalty shootout thriller in the Euro 2020 finals.

In the final game at England’s Wembley Stadium, England scored first with a goal from defender Luke Shaw in the first two minutes of the contest. Italy found a way to get back into the match with defender Leonardo Bonucci scoring in the second half, according to CNN.
The match was at a 1-1 draw at the end of full and extra time, triggering the penalty shootout portion of the match.
Italy secured the championship 3-2 as English players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka all missed their penalty kick opportunities, CNN reported.
Fans in London littered the ground and tried to breach the stadium before the championship game.

This is Italy’s first championship since winning the World Cup in 2006, beating legendary midfielder Zinedine Zidane and his France squad, CNN noted.
