Chinese Canadian pop star Kris Wu was detained by police over allegations of rape, The Associated Press reported on Sunday.

A police statement said Wu had been “criminally detained” over luring young women to have sexual relationships with him.

Wu has been accused by a teenager of having sex with her while she was drunk. She said in an interview with the internet portal NetEast that Wu’s staff forced her to drink while meeting him for a career opportunity, the AP reported.

The teenager recounted that she woke up the next day in Wu’s bed. She said they began a relationship until it ended when the pop singer didn’t return her messages, according to the AP.

The teenager said that seven other women have contacted her about being seduced by Wu, adding that some were under the age of 18.

“I don’t believe this is just my own personal matter. You can even say that this is a problem with the atmosphere in China’s entertainment circle,” the teenager said in the NetEase interview.

Wu, 30, has denied the allegations, posting on his social media account in July that “if there were this kind of thing, please everyone relax, I would put myself in jail!”

“I didn’t expect my silence to encourage these rumors, and I couldn’t stand it!” Wu said. “There were a lot of people there that day who can bear witness,” the AP noted.
