World-renowned Colombian singer Shakira says she was recently attacked and had her purse briefly stolen in Barcelona by two wild boars, animals that officials are increasingly warning are posing a dangerous threat to cities across Europe.

The Grammy Award-winning pop star shared details of the experience in a video on her Instagram story, which is no longer available due to the 24-hour limit on the social media platform’s feature.

According to The Washington Post, Shakira explained while speaking in Spanish that she was walking through a park with her 8-year-old son when two wild hogs “attacked” her and grabbed her bag.

While she eventually managed to get her purse back, she held it up for viewers to show that it was split at the seams and completely covered in dirt.

“Look at how two wild boar which attacked me in the park have left my bag,” she said, according to the BBC

“They were taking my bag to the woods with my mobile phone in it,” she added. “They’ve destroyed everything.”

Shakira then turned to her son, saying, “Milan tell the truth. Say how your mummy stood up to the wild boar.”

News outlets noted that it was not clear from the video exactly when or where the incident occurred.

Government officials and citizens in Spain and other countries across Europe have been ramping up complaints in recent years on incidents involving aggressive boars.

In 2016, Spanish police said they received a total of 1,187 calls regarding incidents involving wild hogs, including ones that attacked dogs, held up traffic and ran into cars.

Aggressive boars have also been reported in Italy, including a pack that followed a woman walking to her car with bags full of groceries.

The woman said she was eventually forced to drop the groceries and surrender them to the hogs in order to escape, the Post reported.

Earlier this month, Rome’s mayor announced that he had filed a lawsuit against the surrounding Lazio regional government, blaming its leaders for failing to implement “effective management plans for these animals,” which he argued has led to the “massive and uncontrolled presence of wild boar in Italy’s capital,” according to The Guardian
