The Los Angeles city attorney’s office confirmed to the outlet that it's considering bringing criminal charges against the famed 41-year-old DJ. Diplo, born Thomas Wesley Pentz, could face charges of invasion of privacy and intentionally giving someone a sexually transmitted infection.
The complaint was originally filed against Diplo by a 25-year-old woman in October 2020. In it, the accuser claimed the DJ recorded sexually explicit videos of her and distributed at least one without her consent.
"I SPECIFICALLY asked him not too & his reply was 'f**k it. I’m recording this,'" the accuser tweeted last year about the incident, according to The Daily Beast. She also alleged that he knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted infection.
The same woman also filed for a temporary restraining order against Diplo earlier this year.
The DJ has denied the allegations and has obtained a temporary restraining order against the woman. He also sued her for stalking, trespassing and distribution of private materials, notes BuzzFeed News.
"To be clear, in no way has my client violated any law," the DJ's lawyer Bryan Freedman previously told Billboard, claiming the woman was "harassing" him. "In fact, he has repeatedly made it clear that he wants nothing whatsoever to do with this person — and simply needs her ongoing harassment of his family to end."
Rob Wilcox, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, told The Hill: "Our office is reviewing the referral and we have no further comment at this time."
