President Biden is on his way to late night television.

Biden will make his first appearance on late night television since taking office, on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Friday, Fallon announced on the show Thursday night.

The interview is scheduled to air on NBC at 11:35 p.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 10.

The White House said that the appearance will be virtual.

The Hill has reached out to The White House for comment.

Biden and Fallon were both at the 2021 Kennedy Center Honors this week along with the who’s who of Washington.

Biden’s appearance on a late night show is the first of a sitting president since 2016.

Former President Obama also appeared on Fallon’s show, making multiple visits to the late night celebrity host’s guest chair during his presidency. He was the last president to be interviewed on late night shows while in office, appearing on programs hosted by Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Bill Maher and Samantha Bee as well.

Then-presidential candidate Donald Trump was interviewed on Fallon’s show in September 2016, but he did not make any late night talk show appearances during his presidency.

The late night shows and former President Trump had a fraught relationship, especially given that he frequently featured in their punchlines.
