‘Daily Show’ installs ‘Heroes of the Freedomsurrection’ Jan. 6 monument
“The Daily Show” is erecting a Jan. 6 monument to former President Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and other “Heroes of the Freedomsurrection.”
The Trevor Noah-hosted Comedy Central show unveiled the dubious honor in New York on Thursday, the one-year anniversary of the deadly riot at the Capitol.
We put up monuments to the patriots who fought against America on January 6th. Please don’t tear them down, because history.

Eight stone markers on the temporary installation feature plaques with the faces of Trump and other prominent GOP figures, including Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) and Lauren Boebert (Colo.), Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Trump’s former personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, Fox News host Tucker Carlson and former White House strategist Stephen Bannon.
A tongue-in-cheek description beneath Trump’s image says that “no hero played a bigger part in the Freedomsurrection” than the 45th president. “While his efforts were not enough to keep him in the White House, his bravery on January 6 will never be forgotten, unless Republicans retake Congress and disband the committees investigating it.”
Another plaque displaying Cruz’s face says that he “rallied the troops [of Jan. 6] with all his natural charisma and oozing likeability.”
The monument, located in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, is poised to be on display for a single day.

It’s not the first time that “The Daily Show” has targeted Trump with a brick-and-mortar exhibit. In 2019, the faux news show toured the “Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library” — mocking the then-president’s Twitter account — around the country.
