Trio of women to host this year’s Oscars: report

A trio of women will reportedly handle hosting duties at this year’s Academy Awards.

“The Upshaws” star Wanda Sykes, “I Feel Pretty’s” Amy Schumer and actor Regina Hall have been tapped to co-host the March 27 ceremony on ABC, Variety first reported on Monday.

An Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences representative declined to comment to ITK on the hosting report.

Tapping comedians Schumer and Sykes, along with “Scary Movie’s” Hall, for the high-profile role would mark a change in direction for the 94th annual Oscars, which went without a host two years in a row beginning in 2019.

Ratings woes have plagued the Hollywood awards show — a favorite target of former President Trump — in recent years. Viewership for the ceremony last April, delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, reportedly dropped 58.3 percent over the previous year.
