West later tweeted that his wife, Kim Kardashian West, called him asking him to clarify his statement.
my wife just called me and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone. I don't agree with everything Trump does. I don't agree 100% with anyone but myself.

Later, Trump retweeted West and thanked him.

West and Trump have been friendly with each other before, famously meeting in Trump Tower after Trump won the presidential election in 2016.
“Just friends, just friends,” Trump told reporters after that meeting. “And, uh, he’s a good man. We’ve been friends for a long time.”
Trump, then the president-elect, said the two talked about "life."
West later deleted his tweets about the meeting with Trump.
The rapper said in 2015 that he would launch a presidential bid in 2020.
“I have decided in 2020 to run for president," West told fans at an awards show.
He also said after the election that he would have voted for Trump if he had voted.
