IRS delays filing season for Washington mudslide victims

The IRS said Friday it was giving taxpayers affected by the Washington state mudslides an extra six months to file their returns.

{mosads}The delay will give taxpayers in the area of the mudslides — including several American Indian tribes — until Oct. 15 to file their returns.

Taxpayers will also get the extra six months to have contributions to retirement accounts count on their 2013 returns. Businesses making estimated quarterly payments will get a reprieve from deadlines in April, June and September.
