Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.) took to Twitter on Thursday to mourn the end of the Philadelphia Flyers' storybook season.
The Chicago Blackhawks sunk the Flyers in overtime of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals Wednesday night, giving the 'Hawks their first title since 1961. The Flyers had earned a playoff bid on the last day of the regular season and advanced to the finals as the second-to-last seed in the Eastern Conference.
Brady, who represents a district south of Philadelphia, had placed a bet with Rep. Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.) before the series. which he lost:
#stanleycup Good series #Flyers. Now need to buy 10 Phila cheesesteaks for Congressman Lipinski.
Also need to find a #blackhawks jersey to wear on house floor.
This year, the Cup generated a good deal of congressional interest. A number of lawmakers, including Brady, took place in a mock face-off on the Capitol steps before the beginning of the series.
