California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) was thinking of "Saturday Night Live" on Thursday night as a plane ferrying him to Asia passed over southern Alaska.

"Over Anchorage, AK.," he tweeted. "Looking everywhere but can't see Russia from here. Will keep you updated as search continues."

The line is familiar from a celebrated September 2008 "SNL" sketch in which Tina Fey debuted her performance as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R).

During the sketch, "SNL's" Hillary Clinton, as played by comedian Amy Poehler, begins to describe her foreign policy views, prompting Fey's Palin to note her own.

"I can see Russia from my house!" she exclaims.

Schwarzenegger, known to crack occasional jokes on Twitter, was en route to Asia for a six-day trade mission to promote California business in China, Japan and South Korea.
