Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R) is in the know when it comes to fellow Republicans joining Twitter.

McMorris Rodgers welcomed the debut of freshman Reps. Scott DesJarlais (R-Tenn.) on Jan. 31 and Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) earlier today.

DesJarlais quickly became prolific at his account @DesJarlaisTN04, tweeting 106 times, mostly on healthcare, since joining Jan. 7. “Thank you. Glad to be here,” he tweeted in reply to McMorris Rodgers. DesJarlais has 185 followers.

Pompeo’s first tweet @RepMikePompeo linked to a press release and praised the recent decision by federal Judge Roger Vinson in Florida ruling the Affordable Care Act unconstitutional based on the individual mandate. Pompeo has 13 followers so far.

Rep. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), another freshman, also tweeted his debut on Twitter today: "Welcome to my official twitter account @RepTimScott!"

Scott already has 142 followers, including several fellow representatives.

McMorris Rogers, vice chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, hosted a “Social Media for Congress” event for House Republican staffers in January in which she urged the 112th Congress to use social media to engage constituents online.
