Murdoch joined Twitter at the end of 2011 and his use of the microblogging service as a forum for political comments — as well as various other topics — immediately sparked debate over journalism and social media. Santorum has been one of his favorite and most scrutinized topics on Twitter. In one of his earliest tweets, he complimented the candidate on his performance in Iowa,the first state where Santorum surged. 

Santorum is a front-runner in the latest polls, running a neck-and-neck race with Mitt Romney in Michigan, which votes on Feb. 28.
