• President Obama intends to appoint William M. Brown to the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee. He is currently the president and chief officer of Harris Corp., “an international communications and information technology company based in Melbourne, Fla.” Before that, Brown worked as the senior vice president for senior strategy and development at United Technologies. 

• The president intends to appoint Ambassador Nancy E. Soderberg as the chairwoman of the Public Interest Declassification Board, which “[identifies] potential solutions for classification and declassification challenges in the digital age.” Soderberg is the president of the Connect U.S. Fund, “a nonprofit organization that focuses on promoting U.S. global engagement.” She has held several senior positions in congressional offices, including with the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), and served at the United Nations and in presidential administrations. 


• The president intends to appoint Ed Stockwell as the United States commissioner of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission, which “is responsible for the conservation and management of tuna and other marine resources in the eastern Pacific Ocean.” He worked for nearly three decades at StarKist Seafoods, most recently serving as the vice president of global procurement and government relations. 

• President Obama intends to appoint Edward S. Itta and James J. McCarthy to the Arctic Research Commission. Itta is the former mayor of the North Slope Borough of Alaska and has held several senior positions in the North Slope Borough and various “management and development” positions for Arctic Slope World Services and the Arctic Slope Consulting Group. McCarthy is a Harvard University professor and previously served as the director of Harvard University’s Museum of Comparative Zoology. He is known as an “author, a reviewer and a co-chair with the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.” 

• The president intends to appoint Nani A. Coloretti to assistant secretary for management at the Treasury Department. She is currently the acting assistant secretary for management and deputy assistant secretary for management and budget. Before that, Coloretti worked in the San Francisco mayor’s office, most recently as the budget director. She has held other positions within the Office of Management and Budget.
