Former senator says he’s in the running to be Trump’s VA secretary
Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown told the Boston Globe Friday that President-elect Donald Trump is considering him to lead the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
{mosads}“He said he’s making his highest recommendation to his committee that they consider me,” Brown said.
Brown is a military veteran who was a senator for about three years. He was elected in a special election to fill the spot of Ted Kennedy after his death, but was unseated by Democrat Elizabeth Warren. He ran unsuccessfully for the Senate in New Hampshire in 2014.
He endorsed Trump in February.
He said Trump called him and asked: “How do you think you can help me?” and asked him what his passions are, to which Brown responded: “military service.”
Brown recalled that Trump told him he’d call next week.
Brown said that if nominated, he hopes he’ll receive unanimous support from his former Senate colleagues.
