King still undecided on Gorsuch

Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) said Sunday that he still has not made a decision on whether or not he will vote to confirm President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court.

“I haven’t decided yet,” King told CBS News’s “Face the Nation” when asked about Judge Neil Gorsuch.

The senator said he is waiting to complete his review of questions submitted to Gorsuch.

{mosads}“I’m not making a decision until next week,” he said.

The battle over Gorsuch’s nomination is looming as Republicans work to get the 60 votes currently required to confirm him to the nation’s highest court.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said he plans to filibuster the nomination, which means Republicans would need 60 votes to confirm Gorsuch.

Republicans, vowing to confirm Gorsuch “one way or another,” have suggested they will resort to the so-called “nuclear option,” if necessary. This route would alter the Senate rules, making it so that only a 51-person majority is needed to move forward to vote on the confirmation.

Two Democrats, Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), have said they will back Gorsuch.
