Citi names new head for DC lobbying team

Bill Rys will be the head of Citigroup Inc.’s Federal Government Affairs team in Washington, D.C., the head of Global Government Affairs, Candi Wolff, announced in an internal memo obtained by The Hill on Thursday.

The news comes at a time when Rep. Rys is known for his tax expertise. He has worked for Citi since 2013 with a focus on tax policy and has been acting head of the Federal Government Affairs team for a few months, according to the memo.

Rys previously worked at Shell Oil Company where he was the senior advisor for government affairs. He was the tax council for the National Federation of Independent Business and before that was the deputy executive secretary at the Treasury Department.

His Capitol Hill experience includes working as a legislative director for ex-Rep. Melissa Hart (R-Pa.) and legislative assistant to former Rep. Rick Lazio (R-N.Y.).
