Rick Dearborn, President Trump’s former deputy chief of staff, is launching the Pass USMCA Coalition to advocate for Trump’s trade agreement with Mexico and Canada.

The group includes former Gov. Gary Locke (D-Wash.) as an honorary co-chair. It plans to create a membership of trade associations, businesses and advocacy groups to promote a swift passage of the deal.

{mosads}The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, also known as the USMCA, is the renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement deal. Trump signed it in November, setting off a six-month deadline for Congress to approve the pact.

Pass USMCA has been discussing membership with representatives from the poultry industry, the U.S. Black Chambers, the Washington Council of International Trade, cotton growers, and biotech industry, Locke told The Hill.

Dearborn announced his departure from the White House in December 2017, finally resigning in March 2018.

He is now a partner at the Cypress Group and will be executive director of Pass USMCA.

“The USMCA is a win for America,” Dearborn said in a press release. “It will launch the nation into a new era of economic and creative prosperity. Congress must seize this opportunity to strengthen our North American trading partnerships.”

Dearborn was executive director of the Presidential Transitional Team and previously was chief of staff to former Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) for 12 years.

There are other competing groups trying to create a trade coalition to help push passage of the deal, sources told The Hill.
