The trade association Worldwide ERC hired Interel US to work on issues including workforce mobility, business immigration and work visas, protecting the personal information of transferees, tax policy on the moving deduction, real estate and mortgage tax reduction extenders and state tax treatment and federal home sale programs. Tristan North, former professional staff member of the House Financial Services Committee, will work on the account.



TECHNOLOGY. The Benetech Initiative, a nonprofit that empowers communities with software, hired the Sheridan Group to work on the Labor-Health and Human Services-Education Appropriations Act and the Higher Education Act. Thomas Sheridan, the president of the group, and Matthew Schlesinger, a former municipal law attorney, will work on the account.


ENERGY. Southeastern Federal Power Customers, Inc., a group of electric cooperatives and municipal power companies, hired Schiff & Hardin to work on funding for the Southeastern Power Administration. David Fitzgerald, former legislative assistant to ex-Sen. Howard Metzenbaum (D-Ohio), will work on the account.


ENVIRONMENT. The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance hired Birch, Horton, Bittner & Cherot to work on issues regarding endangered species, polar bear hunting, trade rules, migratory bird legislation and regulation, dog legislation and ivory sales. Shareholder James Lister, who was previously at McGuireWoods, will work on the account.
