Arnold & Porter named Allon Kedem, former assistant to the U.S. solicitor general at the Department of Justice, as a partner in its appellate and Supreme Court practice.

S-3 Group announced Howard Opinsky will join the firm as managing director and leader of the firm's public affairs business. Opinsky most recently worked at Five Blocks as a special adviser. Before that he worked at Hill+Knowlton as executive vice president and was a managing director of corporate communications at JPMorgan Chase. He also advises the McCain Institute for International Leadership.

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck formed a crisis management practice group. A shareholder in the firm, Mitch Langberg, and chief culture and communications officer Lara Day will lead the group. Nadeam Elshami, former chief of staff to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), will also be in the practice, among others.

UsAgainstAlzheimer's announced Roger Lowe will be the organization's first chief communications officer. Lowe was previously senior vice president of communications at the Red Cross for nearly six years.

Bully Pulpit Interactive announced the acquisition of Aperture Strategies. Scott Mulhauser, the founder of Aperture, will join as a partner to lead public affairs. Mulhauser previously was an aide on the Senate Finance Committee, chief of staff for the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and deputy chief of staff for former Vice President Joe Biden during the 2012 Obama-Biden campaign.
