First lady fundraising trip gets canceled
Michelle Obama’s West Coast fundraising swing set for this weekend has been canceled because of the government shutdown, according to a Democratic source with knowledge of the trip.
The first lady was scheduled to be in Los Angeles Friday and in San Francisco Sunday.
Ironically, her Los Angeles stop was to make up for a Democratic National Committee fundraiser President Obama was to attend in September but had to cancel because of the crisis in Syria.

The events will be rescheduled after the shutdown, said a Democratic source.
The majority of White House staff has been furloughed during the shutdown, including those in the office who plan trips for the Obamas.
