Michelle Obama: Buy my book for Mother's Day

The first lady was signing copies of her first tome, American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America, at Politics & Prose bookstore on a rainy Tuesday morning in Washington.

"Buy away. It’s Mother’s Day. It’s coming up. I would say that I was going to give this as a gift to my mother, but she already has, like, 10 copies. But I might buy her another one just for the heck of it. But it’s a great gift, and hopefully you share it with your family and friends," she told the crowd.

Mother's Day is Sunday. Obama's book is about the White House Kitchen Garden, which she started, and offers advice on how families can start gardens of their own.

The first lady is donating all of her proceeds to the National Park Foundation.
